December 17 The Fighting Deborah Samson

On this day in labor history the year was 1760. That was the day the Deborah Samson was born in Plympton, Massachusetts. She was the first known woman to impersonate a man in order to fight in the Revolutionary War. Her family was poor. As a girl, young Deborah, became an indentured servant.
